Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 to a humble family of 12 children at one point, realized that she could get away from her hardships through a imaginative mind. Before she learned to write or read, she began to compose the songs she wrote herself. When she got her first guitar at age of eight, she started to play on local radio stations from Knoxville, Tennessee. In the following the year that Gold Band Records was an independent label. Even though she became a local star while in the high school years, her ambitions were bigger. When she graduated from the high school in 1964, she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host at the time, was in search for a singer on his show. Parton took the job in the year 1966. She joined RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. She quit Wagoner's act in 1974 when her solo singles such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene outsold the collaborations. Parton composed I Will Always Love You to Wagoner following their split. The song reached the top of the charts at. The first time it reached number 1 was in 1974.
